How an Amazon shipping label PDF is different

An Amazon shipping label PDF is laid out differently from Flipkart and Meesho files, so it has its own reader in the tool.

  • Labels and invoices on separate pages

    Flipkart and Meesho put the label and the invoice on one page. Amazon PDFs usually give each its own page, so the tool works page by page instead of splitting a page in two.

  • Invoice pages are recognised by heading

    A page that contains "Tax Invoice", "Bill of Supply" or "Cash Memo" is treated as an invoice page. Every other page is treated as a label page.

  • Label pages cropped to the print

    Each label page is cropped to the area where something is actually printed, with a little padding. Blank paper around the label is left out.

Matching

Matching invoices to labels by order ID

Because labels and invoices sit on different pages, the tool has to pair them before it can sort. This happens in three steps.

  1. Step 1: Find the order ID

    The tool looks for the Amazon order ID on each page. It has the format 123-1234567-1234567: three digits, seven digits, seven digits.

  2. Step 2: Pair invoice with label

    An invoice page is paired with the label page that carries the same order ID. If no ID matches, it falls back to the nearest label in the file.

  3. Step 3: Read the SKU

    The SKU is read from the item description on the invoice and attached to the matching label, so sorting works on the labels.

    Four Amazon labels on each A4 sheet, two by two, with thin cut guides. Or one label per page, sized to the label, for a thermal printer.

  • Order number, text and date

    Print the Amazon order ID, a short note of up to 120 characters, and the date and time in a strip under each label.

  • SKU sorting

    Labels are sorted by the SKU taken from their invoice. Orders with more than one SKU sort by their SKUs joined together.

  • SKU and order summary

    A summary page at the end with each SKU, its order count and total quantity, and a count of labels where the SKU or order ID could not be read.

  • Invoices after the labels

    Turn on invoices and each invoice page is added after the labels, in the same sorted order, one per A4 page and never cropped.

Scope

What the Amazon reader focuses on

The Amazon reader covers cropping, the A4 layout, SKU sorting, the summary and invoices. A few options in the tool depend on details that only appear on Meesho labels, so they are switched off when Amazon is selected:

  • Pickup sorting reads the courier name printed on Meesho labels.
  • Colour with size and size with colour use the Size and Color columns of the Meesho product table. See the Meesho label cropper for those.
  • Remove extra white space is tuned for Meesho labels. Amazon label pages are already cropped to their printed area.
  • Keep original pages is not offered for Amazon. Turn on invoices if you want the invoice pages in the output.

Like the other readers, the Amazon one was built from the publicly known PDF layout and has no OCR, so a scanned file can be cropped but its order IDs and SKUs cannot be read. If a label is missed, the troubleshooting tips cover the usual causes.
